Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire resides in a sleepy part of Montreal Island known as West Island. People who don't understand about the place mistakenly think that it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact it is it is the West Island includes everything westward of Lachine. Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel was a young woman in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. At the beginning of her life she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected increase in her height made it difficult. In an article from the Toronto Star she admitted In heels, I'm 6'1 inch. After I surpassed my male counterparts, that's when I gave up. Some former dancers switch into acting. In Brugel's case it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school which led her in the right direction. It was her teacher who suggested she audition for the role of Anne in the school's annual production. She tried out and eventually got the role of the main character for the role in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. Since then, Brugel's been performing in over 60 plays, big and small. One of the most memorable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the character the character of Rita on The Handmaid's tale the series produced over the course of ten years.
